∼The Middle of the Garden∼

My experiences from walking and talking with Jesus in the middle of life's garden…a blog by Janet Williams

It is so easy to get into the mental rut of (what I call) “opinionating”. I know that’s not really a word but it should be. My mind wants to take on a social cause or a religious point and wave it about in front of anyone who will listen. I want to support my favorite political candidates or help aleve some social injustice so badly that I go overboard. I lose perspective of who I am and who I am not. I ditch my own core values and run headlong into this opinion of how I think the world should be that I am lost. I wish I’d put little bits of cloth on the branches of trees to help me find my way back to sanity and the core values that I have founded my life upon.

So, I decided that I should attempt to write towards the highest goals I can think of that I would like to live up to. I tried to replace the opinions about running (or ruining, I’m not sure which is actually truth here) the world. I have stepped back into the world or kingdom of my Savior, Jesus Christ and examined what I consider the top 14 opinions that I really desire to hold that always bring life to me. These are my little bits of cloth tied to the branches of the trees along Opionating’s path that lead me back home.

I have been purchased with a great price. My Savior gave up His very life to redeem/purchase me. I cannot and will not throw that away for a political candidate or a social agenda. Even though I will always hold a political opinion or support a social agenda or speak out against a social injustice, I cannot forget that I have been bought with a price. I have been transferred from the kingdom of believing I can change the world to the kingdom of our Christ Who has assured us that He will come and change the world.

So, here’s my little list that adds up to a big challenge. I hope it reels you back in from the outer limits as it does me.

INJUSTICE HEAPED ON YOU. Matt 5:11 KJV

GOT AND TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. Matt 22:36-40

     HE THINKS. Proverbs 9:10 AMPC

If you haven’t already, try things God’s way. Step into this challenge and see how Jesus will take you out of the deep wells of opinionating.

Thoughts from walking through the middle of my garden and from the bottom of my heart,
